Modifing Redfins
I've heard about many folks modifying Redfins to make them "wake" across the suface.
Everything from adding weight to the tail to bending down the lips to adding foam tape to the chin area to make the head float high.
Has anyone tried these tricks and more importantly - do they work?

left alone a redfin rides high and leaves a very nice wake some people use a smaller hook size to make them ride higher,if you want them to swim sub surface you can load them w/ 10 cc of water they cast better and swim deeper.I fish them both ways.saltwaters edge has a video of steve loading a fin.on there web site, welcome to the board.

Not sure if that's what you're looking for, but that's the most common way surfcasters modify the Redfin.

I never fully understood the craze over loading redfins. I have taken my better redfin fish on unloaded versions. I guess it's all in how and where you throw them. If anything, I will use different hook arrangements to achieve the desired results.
