The sea was angry that day, my friend...

The road to Beavertail was covered by surf at Mackerel Cove...Jamestown was two islands for a short time this morning.

From Fort Wetherill I watch the spray from a wave go as high as the top of the Castle Hill Light. There were lots of waves shooting up 30' or more...not a good day for surfcasting.

I haven't been by yet, but reports have it that the road behind 1st beach had waves crossing it and going into Easton's Pond. High tide was definitely high in Newport.

Pete - there was a bit of seaweed on Old Beach Road. Looks like ther was more saltwater down by the ABC club. But the good news is that the mud & sand filled in all the potholes from the construction...

2nd beach was an obstacle course of seaweed... No surfers out..

A report from the "Highlands"

West Road is closed as Round Top Stream is over it's banks and flooded the road. Eccelson Field is underwater and the Clear River is at flood stage. That is all from Burrillville.

The Hill Was Hit Hard

The place took a beating. The stone wall that runs along the left side of the driveway just inside the gate was undercut. There is a huge hole under it in the corner where the dumpster usually is. You could easily climb under the fence and walk right under the stone wall to fish. The entire driveway in the gate area is covered in sand, gravel and rocks. There are rocks and gravel all over the parking area. Scarrier still are the rocks all over the lawn area. And the fence along the east side of the light house was knocked down and is laying on the ground. Messy messy messy.

I couldn't believe all the missing sand from 1st and especially 3rd. 2 to 4 feet worth is just gone.
