Question Bluecrabs in Ogunquit?

......oooops, mis-spelled my name....

..I'm coming up for a two night stay. I DON'T want to know any HOT spots. Thats right, No Hot spots. I'm just interested in where I can legally go wet a line...my skills will do the rest ...

...but anyways, yeah....I'll be staying somewhere on the Main strip and I was just curious if there's somewhere to mozy on down to...and wet something...well, a lure I mean. I'll wet the other thing somewhere else (my whistle you PERV!!) ...I'm going up with my honey, and she says I can sneak away one morning for a couple of hours to find some fish...or at least, quench my thirst...

If anyones' familiar with the area I'm talking (typing) about....I'm going to find out the exact location tomorrow...and would greatly appreciate any suggestions....

Thanks in advance

Bloo~

Hi bloocrab,

I'm in Wells, ME. (next door to Ogunquit). What type of fishing are you looking to do? I will see what I can do to get you into some fish.

Hey Bloo...

I'll be up in the Ogunquit area as well this weekend with my girl, and, thanks to the conference she needs to run, I basically HAVE to sneak away in the mornings. However, I'm not all that experienced of a shore guy, just one of those cheaters on a boat that knows a few holes and a couple tricks. So, I'll probably just end up throwing out some chunked mackeral at the rocky beaches south of Ogunquit, mouth of the Mousam, or Ogunquit beach. However, I'm kind of clueless, and just starting out on this whole "fishing from shore thing". Hopefully, some day soon I'll be more than a one trick pony.

I am sorry Bloo, I was hoping to meet you. Dragonfly I am in York now. Any sugestions on where to go tomorrow morning? I am thinking Nubble, but I only seem to catch fish there when it is pouring rain. I may try York Harbor first thing tomorrow, near that long pedestrain bridge. That moon is really bright tonight. I think high is around 8 tomorrow. . Call me if you can get out in the morning.

Topwater.

I will keep a seat avail for you next weekend - Just let me know if you willbe available to go. By the way Bloocrab I'm glad you explained yourself in your first message. Being a local here and reading that you wer'e coming to Ogunquit to wet your other whistle I almost did'nt finish reading the message (yes I was thinking the Perv way) Hope to hookup with you next weekend.

Hey everyone...

My bad, but I'll be up in Ogunquit next weekend not this weekend. I've also enabled my email address to show up as well. I'll be staying at the Cliff House (Thanks to my fiance's wonderfully generous company), and have the mornings to kill considering that she'll be running a conference. I'd love to meet up with some of you striper pros, and try to get into some fish.

Hi Don,

Hopefully I will be able to hookup with you next weekend. If not be sure to bring your surf rod. If your staying at the Cliff House there is excellent fishing off the rocks in front of the motel. I have fished that area from the ocean side (they frown on people fishing from thier rocks that are not staying there). Good location to chunk & dunk. If there is a sea on use caution - more that one person has been washed off those rocks. The last one I can recall that was washed off was found about a week later Will let you know later this coming week if I will be going fishing next weekend.

Hey Bloo I have spent some time up there the last five years or so. I usually just take a trip on the Bunny Clark ( got Buckala!) but have striper fished and its pretty good. Right in town you can fish the river on outgoing tides and catch schoolies and an occasional large. The rocks along the Cliff Walk hold fish but your best bet for a very large is right in Perkins Cove! This small cove is loaded with lobster boats and other fishing boats and the bass just lay around the docks looking for an easy meal. You will need very heavy tackle to land anything here but it would be worth it.

Hi Bloocrab,

If I'm thinking of the correct moter The Ogunquit Resort Motel is actually in Wells (just over the ogunquit River). If that is so you are golden to get into some nice fishing. You go out the oceanside of the motel, walk a short distance along the Ogunquit River to a nice pool. I have never caught Stripers in that pool but it does hold some nice Brown Trout & Sea Run Brown Trout. The pool is below the waterfall so you don't need a freshwater lic. You can walk further along the Ogunquit River and get into some stripers there. I have done a lot of flyfishing for stripers there and have done pretty well over the years. A lot of schools to upper 20 inch fish and sometimes biger. Surf fishing close to that motel is Moody Point (off Moddy Beach) just north of the motel. Use caution there - low tide fishing area and the rocks really slippery and the tide closes in behind you making it wet getting back. I don't surf fish but have watched others there catch some big ones there. Canalratt1 is correct if you want to do some deep sea fishing The "Bunny Clark", Capt Tim Tower is the best in the state for that. Fishing from that boat holds most of the states saltwater records and at least 2 world records. Easter Shore side of Wells Harbor is now producing some good fishing. Anyways I will check tomorrow to see if I'm correct on the location of that motel. With any luck we can connect with Don and go out on The Dragnfly. Will firm up plans later this week.
