Tin Boat Floor

Some people asked about floors in tin boats. Well i put mine back in today and took a few pictures so those people could see how to do it. Very simple to do. I need to probably replace the floor but it is good enough for this year. Here are the parts. 1 pressure treated beam to sit on the bottom and 2 pieces of floor. I put the floor in in 2 pieces that way I can take it out easily when a live eel crawls under it or I spill a crap load of sandeels under the floor.

Here it is with the front piece slid under the seat. A look at the rear piece with a small separate section of the bottom support stuck on there permanently. This 2nd section will be slid under the rear bench seat and butted up against the front section. It all just lays in there.

Here is the rear section in place. Then you go along and screw the floor into the wooden support down the middle and go along the edges and screw the floor into the ribs of the boat itself. Make sure you use screws short enough so they don't go thru the skin of the boat. Sorry I had to say that. Use a washer so you don't go thru the wood floor. Very simple. Use cardboard to lay it out before you cut the wood.

I eliminated the section behind the seat. Easier to get rid of debris and seem useless to me. Makes putting the rear section in and out easier. Well worth the effort to do and really very simple. I used regular plywood. I may try to seal a piece of ply with epoxy next year but I have been saying that for years. Fishing comes on quick and I say screw it and use what ever is easy and quick. Hope this helps. Good luck. P.

Went out yesterday in tin and had a ball. Send me PM when you hear the macks are around, please. I hope to have the other boat together by then. We still need to do a fluke trip, maybe this year. P.

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!

It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.
