1 small keeper on top. Didn't see anything break. . Over the years I have a theory I never do well in the canal up top early morning when the SW blows.Could be coincidence but that theory just keeps repeating itself .. Should have slept in when I went out the door this morning at 3:30 and the leaves on the trees at my house were moving with a SW wind.

Yup, totally different day out there. Went with my brother and we worked multiple locations for several hours and not a fish between the two of us. Ran into Vic (ThrowingTimber) and chatted for a little while.

Went down there again today arrived @ 4:30 and I did not catch anything. As a matter of fact, I was screwing up all over the place. Lost a big storm shad, a jig, and had a nice problem with the braid wrapping around a guide and causing a big old knot.

I subscribe to that same theory. And coincidence are not, each day that the SW honks, the fishing gets progressively worse. That's been my experience.
Today was a bust. I didn't fish but I spent a few hours this afternoon with many of the top guns and the consensus was, the fishing sucked. Yesterday, I had to be fishing at the only spot on the whole Canal where you didn't get a single shot at a breaking fish. Two poles either side of me, they creamed them I was fishing next to IFGs dad, and every fish caught at that pole came on either a jig or a Ronz. Tony's friend had a nice one on a white jig. He released it without taking it out of the water, so I didn't get a real good look at it, but from what I could see, it looked in the 22-25 lb range.

had a few fish attack my pencil but no hookups.
I was a nice cloudy day on the canal.
Met a guy named Ted from Woburn and talked with him for a while at the end of the day. Nice to meet someone who admits he is coo coo for stripers like me.

I managed to get 1 for the table yesterday...but I think it was a case of the Fish Gods teaching us a lesson.
DON'T GO CHASING FISH REPORTS! - - -
The overcast skies would have been great had the fish been there. Even with the wind, I think had the bait been there like the day before, it'd been close to the same,, them there fish followed the tides/currents out and away...I'm sure someone had a good day in the bay yesterday, on their BOAT .....saw a couple of dudes from the site down near 280,,,
This time of year, here today gone tomorrow -- - Let's hope the next few waves of fish continue to harbor LaRGe- My local rivers continue to see bait,,, ,,,, but I think the biggurls are staying up near Clamma,,, only 10lb fish being caught on 2lb pogys.

... it finally happened, there are no more secret spots

I like SW wind other places but in the ditch it just doesn't pan out for top water action. Mark it down and check it over the years a pattern will arise. I am talking top water day break action . Time to hit CC Bay with the Bunker spoons for some of those big fish.
