You Newb's ought to know , You old salts better remember.
If you fish current ,,, standing in moving water ,,, You gotta know when to fold them . There are alot of places the fishing gets better as the footing gets worse . Just cause you did it before, dosen't mean you can hang in there again . What was the moon phase last time you were out in that rip ? Newb's should know new and full moons = more current . Others should remember its not worth dieing over one more fish . I'm not saying this happened in the passing of a fellow surfcaster found recently in the surf . I am saying its has happened years past and probably will again if we forget ... never forget 10X10

Be Prepared
If you are going into an area where current could quickly whisk you off your feet or into the water, strongly consider wearing an inflatable vest. There are models than can inflate automatically, manually or, best of all, when submerged. Cheap insurance.

As a newb, I'll take your advice. So what kinds of inflatables do folks use? I've seen the Sospenders type of vest, which looks like it might not be too restrictive. Are there others out there that are similar or better? What do you experienced guys use? Do the automatic inflatables run the risk of inflating if you get in up to your pits or washed over?

I'm lucky if I can find the water...
