quantum cabo reels

i am having a 9 ft lami 1081m made and was thinking about putting a Cabo on it. anyone have any expierance with theese reels. good or bad, i would love to hear it. and also what size would you recommend. the 50 or the 60. i do most of my fishing with 2-3 oz plugs and have been using 40 lb power pro. i have always fished with penn reels. but the 560 slammer that i am using now, has givin me alot of problems lately.

I love my cabos. I have 6 of them. They've never given me problems ever. I'd get the 50 for that rod. That'd be a good match.

I have 3 cabo's ( 2 60s and 1 20 ) never had an issue with them . I dont dunk my reels when fishing so I cant say how they stand up to corrosion . They do have corrosion resistance and a sealed drag . The drag is fantastic . I have caught fish up to 30# on my 60's nary an issue .

Let's see--the 50 and the 60 weigh the same and cost the same. They have the exact same body, and the only difference is that the 60 has a bigger spool that holds more line. That's my understanding--am I right?

If so--why in God's name would you buy the 50?

At 20 feet no one could tell the difference between the two

I have the Boca 70 on my 10' Quarrow.Great reel.

Other than a couple of bearings, different handle and spool the Cabo and the Boca are the same reel.Save yourself $50-$60 and go with the Boca.

I purchased one last year ,Im not to impressed with it I had some problems with the drag the first week I had it , ruined a few days of fishing ,plus I dont like the way they chip ,the paint on the reel gets a little banged up. I dont baby my gear, but dont abuse them either, the boca's don't seem to hold up ...like the Penns

Last edited by moosh; 06-30-2007 at 08:29 AM.. Reason: boca instead of cabo

I've found the Boca to be extremely durable and the drag to be the smoothest, most dependable of any reel.As far as Penns go the only one I've owned that stands up is my old bailess 704.I've had both SS6500 and a Slammer 560 literally blow up on relatively minor fish(15lb bass and bluefish). The newer SSg and SSm who's to say? But I won't chance it.
