Skunk on a Rock

Had 2 chances this weekend to fish off the boat but scrubbed them both because of late afternoon thunderstorms. So I perched myself on a rock Friday evening for a little over an hour before driving rain and lightning forced me in. Skunkig number 1. Yesterday went back to the same rock and it seemed primed for bass but all it produced was skunkig number 2. Another angler there was very surprised we weren't getting anything. What's up with thunder storms and bass? Do they duck and run?
