Anyone know how the fishing has been from the surf out there lately? I'm thinking about doing a commando night soon, any info would be greatly apprieciated, doesnt have to be specific.

The fishing at Cuttyhunk has been appallingly bad. The worst I have ever seen. It only promises to get worse with the advent of the commercial season...

Small, maybe 5 and 10. But you don't get doubles without alot of fish. You don't get alot of fish without alot of bait. Combine alot of bait and alot of rocks.....throw in some deep cold water.....a dark moon..... at very least you've got something to work with.

OK, don't believe me if you want. Go ahead. Knock yourself out; unless something changes, there are no fish at the island.
Nothing in Sakonnet, Westport, or Dartmouth either. I know; I have tried...I am taking some time off to do family things; maybe things will improve as Narr. Bay warms up...

Professor Vogt:
Go For It- you are at the right age and have the enthusiasm. You never know what you'll catch out there, plus you already know the island a bit.
If you wanted to go somewhere a little closer to home with a sliightly easier walk, you can do a commando run to Block Island also.
Either way, go for it young man

If your content with the 'resident fish' then that's cool you'll find those any night and the occasional 20ish pound fish are common but to say your gonna hook up to quality fish?... I wouldn't spend all my time there. It seems nothing ever changes, a lot of people think Cutty is the quick fix, yeah sure. IMO, the last few years(summer months) have been wicked suxy. OK, post your 30# fish from last night now.

Anything is better than the current situation in my area, even schoolies have been hard to come by these past few weeks.
