I was fishing from shore last night and could see a number of small baitfish breaking in schools along the water. They were only about an inch to an inch and a half long and from a distance almost resembled freshwater shiners.
Were these fish even big enough for a striper to be interested in eating or are they too small? Are these Peanut Bunker I've been reading about?
In some spots that tiny bait is so thick that the bass just swim through with open mouths. Not targetting specific baits.Makes it tough to interest them in your lure.
I won't try to match the haych, but use something big, that stands out.Good luck.
Thanks for the advice. I was slinging eels actually. My buddy got a nice hit, but wasn't able to hold the fish. I'm thinking it may have been a schoolie that wasn't able to handle the whole eel.
