Looking for review of a blank
in my ever growing collection of rods, i have a need for a glass jetty stick. i prefer a 10' rod, and like what i see of the lami SB1213M on paper. but, i have not felt it in the real world. it would be a jetty plugging rod mostly. anything from bombers to atom 40's. i will be building it as a conventional. so, any reviews?

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that is the primary blank Mike Thomas at M&D's uses for his 'Canal Special' rods.
Mike?

Jeff, you are right about that... I seriously doubt it would load up on a bomber even if it's not cut down...

that isn't so much of an issue when jetty fishing the way i do. most of the cast "distance" is acheived when the reel is free spooled anyway.

Ahhh, you mean breachway rod.... Why get a 10 then? A 9 is absolutely fine on the breachway and is leess cumbersome in the "rotation"

Mikecc built one for me and it makes a great plugging stick for the canal. It won't cast a bomber but can toss down to about 1 1/2 oz to 2 oz min. it can be used jigging also, although it's a little springy for that. I can cast 4 1/2 oz megabait jig a long way and mine is a spinner.

Have you ever tried a Cape Fear blank? I just got a couple of 8' casting rods and I'd bet you could build a sweet 9' out of the Advance Tech blank.
