Fruit Flys

OK...

I'm guessing they're from a plant that my wife brought home a couple of days ago as we don't leave fruit hanging outside of the refridgerator...that's been the only addition to the house recently.

How do you get rid of these little bastards....I'm getting tired of running around the house clapping my hands trying to kill them. It's been bad enough with the mosquitos the last few times out fishing......I know they can't harm you, but they're annoying as all hell slowly flying around in front of the TV while watching the Sox.

Anyone have a quick fix??? ...I've got 3 new sky lights trying to pistol whip them, but my neighbors keep calling the cops when they hear the shots being fired...

...it finally happened, there are no more secret spots

Arrow usually

it's some old beer bottles hanging somewhere....
there has to be a water source of some kind
corona bottles are the worst breeding containers
period.... don't ask me how i know that...

or there is a wet fruit source like tomatoes...
so quit swatting and start investigating the source.

Get rid of anything you might think is their source. Once that's gone they usually die in a week or so.

You can also buy fruit fly traps, like the old sticky fly paper, except they're scented with fruit.

Raid doesn't even phase them.

The beatings will continue until morale improves

...alright, sitting here eating lasagna and I think I just ate one.

Ok, picture a grown man running around the house with an open zip lock bag....I WILL GET THEM ALL!!!

Corona is BIG in my house but the emptys go in the garage. The friggen plant had a sponge as it's water source...one of those decorative pots with fancy flowers that the wife bought not knowing what the fudge she was doing...

I tried doing the Mr. Miagi thing...but there too slow or fast to catch with my hand....and I'm sick of turning the lights on and off while clapping to kill them.....but the zip lock bag should work.

Fruit flys will go after anything that reek of alcohol or ketones. I forbid a trash can in my bay at work. The office staff likes to take their lunch trash outa the office and into the shop, to many fruit flys don't ya know. Thanks. I've had the little buggers go after the wax remover because that stinks worse than the suits banana peels.

One more thought--canister vacume cleaner can get em'. Just need to empty the bag.

When i get one of those large buzz around flys in the house i nail em' with a shot of hairspray.
