Football players at a major Division 1-A program generate millions of dollars in income for the schools. These "scholar athletes"
aren't some Division III kids playing for mom and apple pie, in front of 300 folks who pay $10 a ticket to get in the gate. They are players in a billion dollar industry. They play in front of 100,000 fans who pay NFL prices and will their season tickets to their grandkids. Criticism from the press comes with that territory.
Gundy looked and sounded like an ass, IMO.
"What if it was my son?". I'd tell my son if he wants to play football for the joy of the game, go to a good academic school and play in 1-AA or lower. If he was good enough to play in 1-A, I'd tell him to grow a pair and roll with the punches, because you'll be playing at the top level of the sport and fans and the press have a right to criticise
