Stay Home
Was out last thurs...jiggin pogies and catching monster bass when a boat runs up on me and shuts down less than 10 feet from my bow and scatters the bait pod I was on for a good 15 minutes...when I barked out the obvious "WTF are you doin ?", a manly lookin girl says "Its COMBAT fishing"....after thinkin better of skipping my pogie jig off her battered face...I rattled off a few well thought superlatives and they (yes there were 3 of them) drove off silently...been fishing the habah for the better part of 30 years and have never seen anything this bad....I guess stupidity knows no bounds...if you happen to see these crustaceans in your travels, GIVE EM THE OL 1 FINGER WAVE FROM ME ...Tight lines guys...by the by...took 2 fish over 45 inches and they swim again cyas

Combat fishing....I call it "stupid idiot" fishing...and it draws out the "pilgrims" who couldn't catch a fish in their bathtub....unless of course the bathtub was full of pogies. Wish I could post up a picture of the rig that we took out of a fish a few nights ago....20 inch wire leader with snap swivel attached to a 10" section of window sash chain with 2 hooks split ringed to the chain. Of course whoever was using this rig didn't land the fish...probably broke of on the triple overhand knot. I've been out there for almost 50 yrs. and I have never seen and hope to never again see this! Circled one armada on Sat. in disbelief when a pod of pogies surfaced next to me. Managed to snag one before an idiot drove right into the school..of course he never heard me curse him because a second idiot cut between us! Bird season can't get here quick enough...or maybe I should keep the old Reminton 1100 in the rod rack! Oh yea...one more thing...if you need to brag call your buddies on the phone....keep it off the web!

Don't get me started !!!
I was also out last Saturday.
I watched one clown with 750 HP hanging off the back plow into every school of bait that showed, he maybe got one and wondered why they were gone. """Oh you did just ruin it for me and the other guys here by the way"""" (Hope he saw the 30+ pounder we released)
Thats doesn't even scratch the surface of what was happening.
They need to go to school and attend POGIE 101, maybe they will learn something....

Its good to hear from some honorable anglers who have some idea of whats goin on out there...I can think of nothing better than a screamin reel and a tight line...I seem to have hit on a nerve and am glad I am not over reacting to the stupidity of these so called sport fisherman...I'm not a rich guy and spending hours on the water only to have some clueless putz ruin it, effects my sanity and my gas card...with any luck at all, the next boat who runs up on me will be someone from SB and we will be able to work the bait pod to the benefit of everyone...and thanx for lettin me blow off some steam...tight lines guys...cyas

Scrounger - welcome to S-B
All I will say is that (usually ) I will give someone a break once or twice when they YAHOO onto a pod like that. First time will be a (somewhat) civil explanation on how they UpGefucht and "don't let it happen again", second time would be the creaming match, third time would be sound General Quarters, man the cannons...
Seriously though, sometimes even the smart ones eff up and pull a stupid
Again, welcome to S-B

Idiots are everywhere these days. On the roads on the water wherever. It seems to me that ignorance prevails more times than not. I lost not one but 2 rigs one hooked up to a fish(tuna) because some dope decided that tuna only swim under my rigs and not under his. 2 rigs + 1500 yards of line + a tuna = not so kind words. Nowadays I try to stay the hell away from others. Fishing in crowds makes you mad, you lose expensive gear, and more importantly drives the fish apart and down when some uninformed A-hole decides to blast through or on top of the bait /fish. Scrounger I feel your frustration and pain.
