The St Croix isn't a bad jigging stick. Not as stiff as a 1209 but more than enough to do the job.

mac, you think that would be good from the surf for baitfishing? looking for something in the ten foot range that i can throw a bunker head and some weight out on. i have a 11' gsb spinning and i love it but was looking for conventional this go around. dont get around to the canal enough and i can never find fish there

Mac - Sorry to hear about the medical condition and it stopping you from fishing the salt. I still can get you out on the fresh side in the yak though.

I used this stick with 6 ozs and a large hunk of clam and it handled it fine.

Hi Tim, It isn't a medical condition with me. It's my grandfather (he is 88) who will need the extra time I have. Thanks though.

Dave - keep in mind, you can always take grandpa for a ride by the water ...and maybe catch me dragging a fish back to the truck. .......or running from a skunk in the bushes/
Glad to hear your priorities are in order. I played that role for 7 years with mine. God Bless You -

.
The avid is in very good shape. Is it like new, no. But then again it isn't $300+ anymore either. To me the su1209 is a jigging stick and a little too stiff in the tip for bait. But everyone has their own opinion.
If you are looking for a reel I have an ABU 7000 C3 (older maroon one) I'd sell the combo for 240.
Can't do pics right now hanging in the garage .

Hey, Dave if you are selling the red 7000 C3 separately, I might be interested. Meanwhile, good luck and keep the faith.
