Charter Trip Needed for a Buddy
Hey All You Charter Guys and Girls,
I have a friend at work who is turning 30 on May 9th of this year, and is looking to get a charter for some bass for his birthday...
Any Ideas?
Let Me Know,
Rick

May 9th might be a great time but might be better for RI , I am not sure. If you want one on the outer Cape, try Rich = fishonnelsons from Nelsons bait he is a member here, you know him I'm sure. Then there is Fin Addiction, that is Capt. Jeff Smith.
How many are going?

Rich is mainly wire line trolling
Jeff is fly and light tackle,
Both great trips, I have gone with Jeff and wasn't disappointed
I am planning on taking my Dad on a tuna trip with Jeff in late July early August

That date is a wild card in Narragansett Bay.
There will be bass but it's tough to say what size class will have arrived by that point since everything happens so quickly. Every day makes a difference during those first few weeks.
We've caught bass to 30 pounds in the last week of April before in the Bay, but that was just one year. Most years fish over 20 pounds seem to start arriving in numbers you could actually charter for somewhere in the 2nd week of May.
While we do book a few charters prior to mid-May (in the time around May 9th), we're upfront about the realities of that time frame. Could be good fishing, or just chasing schoolies up to the mid-teens. Or if they're a few days late it could be slow.

Ditto the above comments on the timing - Rhody would be the best bet, or maybe some smaller boats down in Ct, closer to New York.
Call "Q" at Rivers End in Old Saybrook. He does some 2 person charters on his 21 footer, alot of light tackle, he would probably be catching some up on the CT River.

Timing isn't great for RI. There may be fish up in tha bay or, some years, down on the wouth end of BI. But usually most of the fish are still to the west, coming out of the hudson river from their spawning run.

You'd be better off heading towards me or to our spots in CT that time of year.
