The two "D"s

Darters and Dannys of coarse...

the Darters are a copy of Jack Frech's large Montauk darter, using two different sketches with demensions, Idid the best I could to replicate it,I'm pleased wit the results, his were made from birch, I did make some from birch, most of these these are made from Duglass fir, which is cose in desity to birch, it just has a crush rating slightly lower.. I made a few from pine as well, both swam equaly as well... these are heavy plugs (3.50-3.75 ounces) and require lively water to make them do their thing, after a test in the Ipswich river rapids, I took to the to the mouth of the merrimack for a "real" test.... on a dropping tide they pulled hard and dug deep, I kept waiting for the strike that never came... 2 more months...

The Danny's will be in the next post:

These are my large danny's, being just shy of 8" and weighing 3.5 ounces thanks to heavy weighting and a pine body... they tend to roll alot less and snake a litttle better than their WRC cousins I make...I also feel that keeping the hooks tight to the body also aids in controlling the roll...

Smart move waiting until after Plugfest to build those. Otherwise there would have been a stampede. Either that or Flap would have attached himself you to like a 7 foot leech. Beautiful job on both.

Awesome!

Very nice.More classic's..
Drill the front of a danny up on a angle to shorten the belly swivel.

FORE!
It's usually darkest just before it turns Black..
