Cast Nets

I had recently purchased an eight foot net and found a few good youtube videos demonstrating a proper throw. However, I was wondering how to spot bait fish/bunker in the water when throwing from a boat. I realize some areas hold these bait fish really well compared to others, but as dumb of a question as this may sound, I really do not know what I am supposed to be looking for other than big black balls of bait I live in mashpee out of waquoit bay so if anyone would like to drop me a pm with maybe demonstrating it to me this summer or a spot or two MAYBE..... it would be greatly appreciated.

Often they are not so obvious, in that case you need to have good eyes and ears. Shut down, let your wake die and listen carefully. Often times its ripples/fins not splashes. Some years they concentrate on the same areas other times they are found in odd ball shallow spots, I've seen them get stranded by the tide in shallow pools. You can save time and $ by driving and glassing, or look for activity by other boats. And of course.. they don't call them fish finders for nothing.

Goose is right on the money

the ripples look a little different then a wind generated disturbance

in that, it will appear different than the ripples the wind is

imparting to the water,,, just enough so that if you pay

real close attention you notice that subtle difference...

about the time you say ...hmmm no friggan pogie schools today

you'll suddenly notice your in the middle of one. and then

your heart skips a beat and you get all excited.. LOL

after but after watching those , i now have a heart ache

Invest in a pair of polarized sunglasses.
It helps cut through the glare, and see what's under the surface.
I though the "pros" were just trying to advertise a product until I got a pair and saw for myself.
The will make a big difference, because you will see so much more of what swims by you.

Bait casting nets are a blast. Once you perfect you cast, you'll be amazed at how difficult you thought it was beforehand.
