Great story Dave...It must have been so cool visiting the spot where you fished as a child. My younger brother and I ofter talk about digging up some crawlers and going to the "moat" that surrounds the Charles River Outdoor Theatre in Allston for remember when fishing trip.
I caught a Striper on the skitterwalk last evening (Sunday). I wrote a "lure of the month" column on that baby last year...that plug definately has "it"!!!!

Good story. Spent three days in a similar situation this spring as I fished a place where my family had a cottage for 15 years or so. Hadn't fished it since 1988, but things haven't changed. Real productive and quiet with lots of smallmouth and largemouth from shore.
Gearing up for the suds now, though.

It's not the bait

yeah it's a good story, I love those ponds that no one has access to, left undisturbed for the most part and available to only a few ...
... that is how it is off my parent's back yard, the only problem is that the crazy lady who comes running out of her house yelling at me to stop fishing is my mother - no disrespect, god bless her, she's a wonderful woman - but she likes to keep it for the kids ...
...so I bring my three year old daughter down there and then pretend to show her how to fish. It lasts about two casts until she loses interest.

I loved it, i want to find myself a backwater pond full of untouched fishies.
I was eyeing that plug today, but as it stands my forays into freshwater fishing has turned into a nightmare in lost lures.
