An Afternoon Fishing with The Jedi Master

I scooted out of work about noon on Friday and met Yoda aka clamdigger at the boat, we hit the water around one, WOW was it a beautiful day. Unfortunately the flat calm/bright sun made the fish a litte plug shy. We hunt around a little and see some birds working in about 1 1/2 feet of water and head over. Yoda says they shouldn't be bluefish, but alas they are so we catch a couple and move on. Hit a few more rips and the Jedi Master stars hooking up on little linesides and I somehow start getting bluefish (maybe because I casted away from shore). Even though we were boat fishing, I needed to teach my plugs how to walk, because we were snatching fish within one pop of the beach As the day progressed, Yoda had me making the first cast just to make sure there weren't any bluefish for him to contend with. I don't know how he does it, I can cast in a spot work it and the master throws the next cast to the same spot and hooks up on a decent striper. Meanwhile I'm hooking up on bluefish two at a time on one plug, "what do you mean there shouldn't be any bluefish HERE". Just before twilight the bass picked up with the wind and even I was getting a hit or three on every cast and then they just quit so we headed in. Overall a great day, I ended the day some Bass, lots of bluefish and a seagull. We probably ended up with more than 30 fish between us, with only two keepr size, still loads of fun. Saltheart we need to talk about changing the decal on my new rod to a bluefish

If you ever get a chance to go out with Clamdigger, you NEED to do it. I learned more in one afternoon than I did in years of fishing by myself.

Sounds like a great day fishing. If you are both tossing the same plug to the same spot and he's getting stripers and you are getting blues , you are retrieving it or jerking it too fast.
