Best place close to boston to take the 150 Outboard for repair.

Guys, still have not figured out the situation with the boat not going over 2500 rpms when in gear. I need to get someone to look at it. I was referred to 3A marine, but they can't get eyes on it for 2 weeks. The boat is inCharlestown, and puts along fine....Any ideas? Any of you guys adept at trouble shooting this prob? Or have a good place locally where I can take it?

I have no experience myself with repair places close to boston but I've had friends reccomend Bill's Outboard I think in Hingham. Is that too far out?

You could try Monihan's in Weymouth. I believe they do engine work. Call to check first though.

Monahn's is a great place with great people (Marty is a great mechanic) But I would guess they are busy as hell now.
Bill's in Hingham is a Mercury place.
3A sucks (I wouldn't let them fix my kids bicycle)
There is a guy @ Berts boat yard in Weymouth you want to go to.
Max's outboards.
He specializes in Johnsons, has a small shop, does road calls if it is easier for you.
And won't rip you off !
I'll try to find his # and post it here.

Slips Capeway is a little far maybe (Raynham on Rt.44) but I'm pretty sure they work on Johnsons. They did some very good work for me on an Evinrude a few years ago.

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

Zeoli Marine in Revere works on Johnsons. I've been using them now for 3 or 4 years and I've been real happy with their work, although I don't know how backlogged they are. They are on the Pines River in Revere and have a dock that you can tie up to.

You can call Chris Viarella at 617-846-2800...he should be able to help you out.

Good luck...

Like Ron said, Max in Weymouth. Monahans will be busy as hell right now, probably would not look at your motor for 3+ wks. Max has been in the biz for 30 + yrs. a good chit and won't rip ya off.
