Not a HOF'er by any means, but when I was a kid you knew who Bobby Murcer was! He was an all out player, team player....played on some bad teams unfortunately and then was traded by the Yanks just before they won their 2 titles in the late 70's then reaquired the season after their second championship that decade! As a boy my buddy Steve and I were baseball fans big time! He loved the Yanks and I of course was a Sox fan! We always compared teams and players and Bobby Murcer was always in the discussion or when we were trading baseball cards.....his were some of the most coveted......he was a very good player and I am sorry to hear he has passed away from a brain tumor. I hope they honor his memory during the All Star game at the stadium.....he deserved that much.
I agree not a H.O.Fer but a solid Team player.
Probably will be remembered most for the 5 R.B.I's including the game winninghit he had in the farewell to T. Munson game after attending his funeral and eulogizing his friend.
