Question To Fly Fish or not ot Fly Fish???

Greetings folks... Some of you may know, from the StriperTalk forum, that I am fairly new to fishing. (Fished quite a bit when I was younger but just got back into it about 3 months ago, after 15 - 20 yrs off.)

"Back in the day," I was a large mouth basser using a baitcastig setup. Now, I'm a salt water surfcaster, using a spinning outfit. The rod and reel I have were purchased for pier fishing so it's an ok 8' rod and matching reel. In the spring, I planned on upgrading to a better quality spinning rod / reel but now I'm kind of thinking about going to Fly Fishing.

I don't really know why as I've never Fly Fished before. It's just that I watch the folks out in the surf and it looks like such a great time.

I know I have more thoughts and some questions but I need to put some thought into them before I add them in a post.

For now.. could you please post some pros/cons of Fly Fishing -vs- "conventional" outfit fisihng and any other thoughts you may have?

Thanks a lot folks! I appreciate your time and any info!

Tight Lines,
Rob
