17 year old Cruzan 151
So I'm doing some more cleaning out this afternoon and I come across a couple of bottles of Cruzan rum from my horneymoon 17 years ago. One bottle 1/2 full of regular Cruzan, one unopened bottle of Cruzan 151 Dark Rum.
The 151 bottle has a little bit of what looks like sediment in it when you shake it which is strange considering it's a plastic cap that is still sealed. Anyone ever sampled something old like that? I remember the 151 from my drinking days that stuff was serious rocket fuel. Wonder what it's like 17 years later? No smoking obviously

Sediment looks like little teeny teeny wood sticks so that's why I was scratching my head. Does anyone know what happens to old rum? Does it change flavor is it better or worse? Should I invite Ted over give him a bottle and steal his girlfriend?

Maybe it's unfiltered sugar cane. That is one beautiful island. Lush rainforest on the west coast and arid desert on the east coast.

I used to live in St Croix and managed a bar there - and the Coca-Cola was more expensive than the Cruzan we mixed with it.
Got a bottle from my distributor there once that had a dead lizard floating in the sealed bottle. Wish I'd kept it.
It's hard to tell what the sediment might be without seeing it, but my first guess would be lizard poop
Actually there is a 20 year old aged rum that I remember called Ron Metusalem - Bahamian, I think. It's unbelievable, tastes like a fine cognac Probably hard to find locally, tho -

Still don't know how I made it back to my hotel unscathed so many times in Bermuda.

I don't think it's the cap, the cap is a light gray color and the little things inside literally look like little teeny twigs.
I might open it next weekend. Likwid your welcome to come for a tasting
