as i read the worc paper , big story is tuna in the bay.

does anyone else know of this or is it fish tales. cant figure out where to go tuna fishing now

w/ all the story's. where r they @ fishing ledge or the 20 line . is it all casting....help

Dave a friend of a friend caught a 90 plus on a bunker spoon yesterday trolling for comm. bass. I was out all last week, for bass, and did not see any tuna in the lower bay area, but what do i know when it comes to tuna, but he was in that general area. I did see a lot of guys going out and coming into Barnstable today with tuna gear while I was at the beach. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Good luck

theres LOTSA guys chompin' at the bit trying to catch tuna in the Bay (even some idiots that drive all the way from CT for the chance to catch one

). they had a strong run very early (2nd week of June) and then kinda broke up and haven't really gotten back together for a good, reliable bite (good enuff to justify a ride up there from CT).....

everyday, somebody catches one, just not with any real consistency- in other words, its a roll o' the dice right now..........

Speaking as someone who burned over 110 gallons and over 230 miles in 2 trips this week inside and slightly outside the Bay it might be worth waiting until things pick up a bit. I'm a big believer in "you don't know if you don't go" though which is why I was out there supporting OPEC. Both times were weekdays and I didn't see many other boats out for tuna in the Bay. Someone has to do the bird dogging though...

There's definitely some tuna in the Bay but they are cranky at best, staying under the surface and rarely giving up their location. Half the fish I casted at only gave up their location when they rolled on their side while swimming slightly below the surface. Felt like I was tracking bonefish. If you were irritated by the waking/cruising fish of the past few weeks that ignored your offerings but at least you could see them and cast at them you REALLY won't like these fish. You will likely see some fish breaking, but it's ones and two's, and not feeding with any passion.

I know of a few caught this week in CCB but none were easy fish. Hard work, skills, good luck, and the right timing. Schools of fish feeding for minutes on end isn't the game right now. 5 seconds of breaking fish is cause for excitement. As Bobber said, inconsistent, at best. You can catch, but everything has to fall in place perfectly. No idea what's going on further North though, it's not really my normal territory.

We did some bird dogging one day covering 100 miles. Had 1 on that came unbuttoned. Planets weren't aligned. Hopefully some more show up soon to better the odds.

ok guys .....i went out of chatham sat, went to bc and started at 7am . saw 1 fish on near bc. trolled around all am for sh it .... seas were 3to5 + winds 15 to 20 w/ small crafts. it was sloppy, but i had to go... seas were better at crab and w/ more bait showing on graft. some bass mixed in w/ less blues... bass are out past the 3 mile limit hitting spreeders and birds and chains .. all fish were in 130 ft of water .....

Got to cut that Worcester umbilical cord Dave, how timely can an inshore towns newspaper be?

Wnat to catch SBFT you need to launch in the dark in CC Bay and be on the grounds at first light ready to cast, you get one hours window of opportunity after that the other boats show and it's run and gun and the tunoids sink.

That is going to be my plan when Im down there in August... be on the grounds before first light for any surface fishing. After that Im going to give verticle jigging a real hard shot when fish aren't showing.

Me and my bro doubled up last fall that way when there were about 25 boats doing the trolling spread thing on the SWC and no fish were up on top, or caught from what we saw.....
