Verizon Contract pt2
We got what we wanted, 10 1/2 percent wage increases over 3 years, 10 1/2 percent increase in the pension over 3 years,, still pay 0 for health, and same for the retirees.

It looks like they might be hiring soon, they need help badly in certain areas.
It's funny some people were like , "I pay for my healthinsurance why should'nt you people." I always say to them instead of being pi$$ed at us you should be asking your boss, They don't pay for thiers why do we have to pay for ours...
The biggest thing was keeping the retirees from having to pay, most of the ones that are retired now, retired pre 401k, and are living on very tight budgets. Prescription costs are out of this world, we really need national health care soon..

I deffinately realize it, but that is one of the great benefits of being unionised, I have worked both sides of the fence and know the difference.

You and your union mates are extremely fortunate to be on the winning side of that negoiation
I have seen penisons depart, benefits reduced in many, many markets.

Good for you.
I worked for non-union printing companies while other people I knew worked for unionized ones.
No union means you get a raise only if you get promoted or the company really has a good year.
If the job market was tight, regardless of thier profit - they figured they had you by the short ones, so you got nothing.
If the overall economy was average - then it meant that they would claim that did not make any money so you got nothing.
I came to realize that no union pretty much means you get the annual nothing. If you got two raises in five years - you were lucky. How many years can a person not get a raise and expect to move ahead in life?

Um not trying to stir the pot but MOST prescriptions can be purchased fairly cheap with generics thru Walmarts etc and reforming the current system is better than our inept federal government trying to manage your healthcare decisions
