This is why I bought the skiff!
Times like today I never want to end. Jacob and I hit the South River and he caught 1 micro on his Speed Racer rod. It was a perfectly balanced match up of mighty mites! I was so happy to see him work the fish perfectly and he loved the way it tried to get away from the boat once he got it close. We followed this up with some high speed cruising up and down the river and then a whiffle ball game and boggie boarding on the beach with my friends 3 nephews.

That's what it's all about. My son drifted away from fishing about 15 years ago. Being a bit of a loner it didn't really bother me too much but he's recently taken up an interest and I'm looking forward to hitting the water with him again.

That shot should replace the front page at least for a short time.

Thanks guys for the kind words. You should here him with all the terminology of fishing. He's an ole salt for sure and I'm sure if he keeps it up he'll be a much better fisherman than me. I'm just trying to teach him about the outdoors and appreciate the little things. I've been showing him the pics on this site and he loves them so he got a big kick when I posted this thread. Thanks again and take a kid fishing sometime, it's good for everyone!

Marsh, My Dad didn't know a thing about fishing, but he felt his sons might enjoy it. So, he chartered a boat from Rock Harbor one summer when we were young, 8 & 10 maybe. I've never stopped fishing since that day. Each summer we'd take a half day trip and for me, it was better than Christmas morning. You've done a great thing.
