Question RI Shoreline Fish Traps

Is there a regulated season? If so, when do the nets get pulled?

Cow,
The traps in Rhody all fall under special regs. Each trap may have a different season on when they can be set. RIDEM has the regs posted on their web site somewhere. I'm sure if you contact them and ask about a specific trap they can tell you the season.
Good luck.

Let me rephrase the question, who owns the fish traps and who benefits from them?

Abraham Manchester Inc owns most of the traps in the Sakonnet area, ownership going back to the mid-1800's I believe.
There are 3 at the mouth of the Sakonnet.

There are 4 to 6 off Lands Ends depending on the cacth and time of year.

They catch everything and anything that swims into them.

Be careful around them, boat guys. Stay clear!!! I have seen the Navy trainer boats get wrapped up in them.
