listen to Mrs Nebe's logic from when we bought our house..

Mrs Nebe-"oh... I love the yard.. its so natural... no grass... its like a forest"

Nebe- "um... Ok. You do realize that all of these oak trees mean lots of raking"

mrs nebe. " yeah but I dont like mowing lawns"

nebe- "so your going to rake all of these leaves if we buy this house?"

mrs nebe- "yards are over rated.. the house is beautiful"

Nebe got stuck with leaves.... we have a half acre of land and i will safely say that the full half acre is covered with 80% oaks... I dread fall cleanup... oh wait it is fall....

The problem with Oaks is that most of the dam leaves don't seem to come off until sometime during the winter which makes the spring cleanup a mess, now the maples and poplars on the other hand make up the bulk of my fall misery.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day ...
show him where to fish and ... you'll be sorry

I feel your pain! I have several oaks in my backyard and so do my neighbors on both sides of me. I can never finish in the fall, I have to finish in April. When it is all said and done I fill up about 40 of those tall lawn bags. It does suck.

Wink oak leaves

they make great insulation...
especially if you bag them
and put them against the north side
of a building... or a drafty cellar window.

if you need them raked up .....just make
wind rows narrow for the mower to shred them.
(: yank that mower blade off and sharpen it like
a knife... before hand tho, so you make
good small confetti... and it'll blow around in fall.

Eben,
Invest in a leaf blower. I bought one last year and its one of the best investments I ever made. Even makes cleaning up the leaves in the spring easier.
