couple quickies
I threw these together last nite as I am going out tomorrow along the Elizabeth Islands on a members boat. I was so lazy that I didn't even paint them it is just primer and a quick 30 min epoxy job. Stuff works great in a pinch. I am more interested in the action, although I figured that out with the protos so I am kind of confident they should swim great. I built and primed these things in the spring but never got around to finishing them. Med. goo goo has belly and tail weight and swims really nice up high in the water with the flatish lip. Really very happy with the results by adding the weight as the originals were unweighted. Without the flat lip, the original lip used, the plug goes deep but the flat lip really does a fantastic job at making a really nice top of the water column swimmer. The Gibbs is an exact copy. A smallish GTS. I made the lip, you need too, and this plug has one of the most realistic swimming action of any plug I have ever swam. I couldn't wait to copy this one. Thanks VB. The popper is one of my shapes, although similar to many I have seen. I hope they catch something. I'll spend more time on the rest, paint wise, later this winter.

Great stuff Paul. I may need to talk with you re: a couple of those poppers for my favorite spring spot!

nice plugs
paul, i was fishing the other day off the beach in soco ri and a old timer was fishing a real goo goo...this guy had to be all of 70 and he never took the goo goo off fished it for 2 hours, mid day...bunker on the beach...I was watching him...I've really never seen anyone fish a goo goo before. he had the lip bent down like yours and was hitting spots between rocks and eddyies around them...fishing it topwater to a little sub surface..he never stoped plugging and after like 2 hrs he hooked up with a 36 inch blue...you could hear his 704 from 20 yards away crying.....what a fight...it was great watching someone with years of experience fishing a goo goo...his plug was white like yours your plugs look great he was useing the 8 inch one and getting some good distance too

A little slow in the fish department but a fantastic day non the less. The goo goo swam great. I was not as thrilled with the Gibbs. A lighter wood will be tried next and maybe a belly weight. Thats part of the fun.
Ed the more I do this the more I like and appreciate the old school stuff. Nice story.
Peter anytime, we will talk
Here is all I got for you in the picture dept. As you can tell I luv lighthouse pics.

"little"? Actually it was totally slow, but talking to Paul was so much fun it didn't matter. We'll do better next time.
