THE SURF FISHING CLUB CHALLENGE ~ 2008

STRIPED BASS - BLUEFISH - SURF FISHING TOURNAMENT

The dates for the tournament will be Oct.24, Oct.25 and Oct.26

This TOURNAMENT known as the Surf Fishing Club Challenge was established in 1993. The main purpose is to bring together Atlantic coast Surf Fishing Clubs, in an effort to unite members from different clubs and regions, to meet each other, discuss fishing and conservation of their respective areas. All proceeds are donated to charity in the name of Surf Fishing. All donations will be made to the M/S Society

DATE AND TIME:
START -FRI. OCT.24,2008 - 6:00 PM
ENDS - SUN. OCT. 26,2008 - 8:00 AM
S-B Will took care of the TEAM registration and sent the check in. We'll also have a cookout at the East Beach CRMC Lot Saturday afternoon.

So Please Respond on this thread if you are in definitely or a maybe as I do need to put in a list of the tourney.

This is a great Tourney for a Great Cause. I can't tell you how appreciative many people are - including some people many of us here know!

RULES
1.) All organizations participating in the tournament must be a club, fresh or salt water.
( officers, by-laws etc.S-B, a former winner courtesy of Team Habs, is grandfathered in)
2.) FISHING AREA: Napatree Point to Narrow River Narragansett, Rhode Island.
( NO BLOCK ISLAND )
3.) All fish must be caught from the Shore/Surf and weighed at
Weekapaug Bait & Tackle in Weekapaug, R.I. or Snug harbor Marina in Wakefield, R.I.
4.) In the event a tie occurs: The measured length of each winning fish will
be added to the total weight.
5.) All fish will be measured from the nose to the end of the tail.
6.) All fish weighed and entered in the contest, will be entered in the book by someone other than the person who caught the fish.
7.) After a fish is weighed and entered in the contest a punch mark or knife cut will be made near the tail.
Note: If the angler is going to mount the fish the mark or cut is not necessary.
8.) Rhode Island Fishing/ Beach Regulations will be adhered to at all times.

AWARDS:

Surf Club Champion. Determined by the combined weight of the ( 3 ) heaviest Striped Bass and the ( 3) heaviest Bluefish from a participating club.
A continuing trophy with the surf club champions name and year will be awarded.
The winning club maintains the trophy for ( 1 ) year.

FISHERMEN’S BREAKFAST

The fishermen’s breakfast and awards ceremony will be held at the Andrea Hotel located on Atlantic Ave. in Missquamicut, R.I. at approx. 8:30 AM Oct.26,2008.

Same dates as the third leg of the Tri-State which will be run out of Westerly. Can't even work them together because Tri-State is catch and release.

Just my luck, I dont belong to a club for 1, and for 2 I will be out of town those dates.
Sounds like it will be a lot of fun, and definitely for a good cause.


Catch and release + respecting Mother Nature will help keep Stripers in good numbers for our future generation to enjoy fishing as we do today.

Hey John...It is looking like I will be bringing the camper and setting up either on RIMS property or at Ctown B-way and running BobBike's Jeep around the area.

Having the Camper and not hearing form Springtide (Where are you Mike?) I will volunteer to make and bring the super secret Narragansett version of the African Chicken Peanut Bean Soup/Stew. I got the bowls and spoons also.

We need to see some others step up and kick in for the cookout.
