I don't believe that number of 46. Yeah it has been cold this week but I don't think the ocean can drop 8 degrees in 5 days. Ocean temps usually drop slowly.

Thanks
Whip,
Thanks for the water temp chart. It is certainly
refreshing with all the B..S.. put out on this web
as gospel truth to see someone who can back-up
a statement with fact. Now if only we could do
that about statements on fish, baits, plugs, casting,
tides, moons (did I miss anything??) that all the
experts herein profess as fact. Have a short winter.
See ya on the beach.

I did not mean I don't believe what you read, I just question the accuracy of the data. Seems like a big drop in that amount of days to me. Maybe what I thought about ocean temps is not true.

Very possible! (& probable) that the temp. dropped that quick up there!
1) I have seen a single late- Fall storm drop water temps in the Ocean surf by 5- 6 degrees within 48 hours! (killed a few seasons down here that way... shaping up to look like this one included? )
2) Water temps down here & even as far south as Jersey have fallen as low as 46 in the backbays... 50 in the ocean surf (was 56- 58 a week ago)
I can well then believe these temps accurate for up there in B.B.!
Anyone seen any Gannets on Herring this week-- anywhere?

wind direction can change the water temp dramatically in hours. If the warm water gets blown away and/or cool water gets blown in you can see dramatic changes ina hurry. NE blows the cool water down, NW blows the warm water away

Smaller bodies of water such as Buzzards bay has a faster temp drop than larger bodies like cape cod Bay.
it also warms up faster
Buzzards bay is not that deep and remember we're talking sea surface temps here.
It may actually go up if we get some SW winds

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.
1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!
It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.
