Cut Down GSB 1201L- Spinning

Lamiglas.....Wrapped at M&D's. 4 inches cut from the tip. Also, had butt extension added later. Rod is 9'10" Aluminum Reel Seat. bottom of the Reel seat is about 20" from the butt.

Rod will launch a 3oz. plug but casts comfortably down to about 1.5 oz.

I'll post pictures if there is interest.

This rod was featured in Zeno's "The Hunt for Big Stripers" and "The Art of Surfcasting With Lures". Basically it's a collectors item.

Looking for $200.

Luds - If Bob isn't interested I may be

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.

Will do. I have to head out now but I'll post them when I get back in. I had this rod built based on some posts by nebe and dz. I think they also fish the blank cut down. It did exactly what they said it would but I can't seem to fish anything other than a 1201m or 1321m

These pics are pre fall cleaning so the rod would look a little nicer when it got into your hands. It looks used but everything about it is intact and in perfect functioning order. No nicks in the the blank or rust on the guides or seat. The seat is a little scratched from a rod holder.

Correction.....the rod is 9'7 in length. Originally I had 3 inches cut from the butt but later had had cms put an extension on it to re-lengthen it because I found it too short.

1dozenraw.. by cutting off 4 inches, you can get away with casting heavier plugs on a very light blank.

I love that blank..

Like Nebe said it was mainly to allow the blank to throw more weight. I also wanted a heavier rod that was shorter than 10 ft. There is not alot to choose from in that size range so I cut this down to 9'6. I feel better throwing 3 oz. w/ than I do with a 1201m. It's nice to have something a little more lightweight that can still handle some large plugs and eels.
