Bass From The Beach - Review In Sunday 12/7 Prov Journal

Tim Coleman’s Secrets
Tim Coleman, the Rhode Island expert surf caster who was at the helm of The Fisherman magazine for several years, has a terrific new book available in time for Christmas.

Bass From The Beach, Volume II, is filled with practical information presented clearly and directly.

Coleman’s editor was Gene Bourque, another former magazine editor and a wonderful writer himself.

Coleman is a quiet guy, known for catching big fish. In Bass From The Beach, he reveals a fish-tote full of basic as well as advanced advice on bait and plug fishing that will help a lot of anglers catch more and bigger bass. His chapter on how to find new, private fishing spots is worth the price of the book ($19.99). No one has ever written about access as Coleman does.

Bass From The Beach, Volume II, is available at Amazon.com, and should be in stock at tackle shops that carry books. Quaker Lane Outfitters in North Kingstown, Striper Moon in Bristol and Surfcasting Rhode Island

Just finished my copy a couple of nights ago - it's a good winter read regardless of your skill level - and it's well written without a lot of flowery prose and pontificating.

Tim's always right on the money - boy, it's funny how much small changes in your tactics make a big difference in your catch rate from spot to spot - meaning the differences between the Island here and SoCo and the Block. He lays it out pretty well, reminded me of a few things I've been neglecting and also gave me some new insights.

Nice job, Tim and Gene - and thanks to you Joe for putting it out there for us to enjoy as your second publishing effort!

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.

Glad you liked it. Tim's a proven writer and an accomplished fisherman - which is what I wanted at this stage.
