Anyone catch Charlie Moore Outdoors on NESN ...
Did anyone catch Charlie Moore Outdoors on NESN last night? I landed on it for the last 15 min and they were sight fishing for stripers on The Cape.
According to the NESN Programming for December 2, he will be on from 8:00 - 9:00 tonight.

I didn't see the show last night, but i've seen 'The Mad Fisherman' before...the first time I saw it he was fishing with Ted Nugent...not your average celebrity guest. Usually he's fishing for the striper's smaller, freshwater cousin.

I stumbled across it last night.
I usually wouldn't admit to watching him but it's been so long since I've seen a striper that I'd even watch Barney, a Teletubbie or Mr. Rogers catch one.
Last night's show appeared to be put together from several early episodes and he caught some decent size bass. (some on eels of BI!)
Oh, yeah. I turned the sound way down. It helps if you can't hear him.

Did anyone see the episode where he was fishing for Cod? That guy is such a character. I think his mother hit him in the head too many times when he was younger

Ok.. Caught both shows last night (1/2 hr each)
The first one was on stripers, in the CT river and in MA.
The second on small-mouth bass in Big Lake, Maine.
I enjoyed the first show, as it was on stripers, and the segment in CT is only about a 1/2 hr away from me. But... I didn't really care for the way they were just throwing the fish back in the water! That really turned me off. I mean, at least bend down a little and get some water flowing into the fish instead of dropping it from 4' above the water.
I only watched about 1/2 of the second show. One, because I was still turned off by the first show and two, I got tired of hearing him repeat himself three - four times!
Nice smallie! Nice smallie! Nice smallie! Now that is a nice smallie!
However, I am sure I will watch it again.

I didn't see last nights show but I think I have seen this one before...the guy who repeats himself 3 times...nice one, eh? nice one, eh? nice one, eh?
There is another show like that..."the dimestore fisherman"...It is like watching a Saturday Night Live "Waynes-World" skit. For the first 15 minutes , I thought the show was a spoof.
IMO these poor shows paint a "dumb" face on fishing. I would rather watch "Fish-On" re-runs.....Now THATS entertainment! YeahBaby!

Anyone ever the see the one a few years ago, a southern guy that called himself "BassMan" and often apeared out of the water - obviously a spoof - wearing a Batman costume and holding a smallie or largemouth? It was one of the few truly entertaining freshwater fishing shows. He mixed in enough spontaneous and unscripted comedy with some usefull fishing info.
I'm not a big fan of Jimmy Houston skipping a small bass acrosss the water or a lot of those shows in general - I'm a bass snob and like pretty much seeing inshore saltwater shows - mostly just stripers, but I really did like that show. It was only on a couple years....

The Reel Guys
Anyone see the recent REEL GUYS episodes of sight casting to bass on the flats? Looked like Cape Cod somewhere. I think there is another show from the same trip on this Sunday (7:30 a.m., ESPN2). Saw a short preview of it this past weekend. I think in this one they are wading the flats whereas the first show had them in a decked-out flats skiff. Pretty cool looking if you ask me. I thought the guide's name was Moore too? Definately not that SOB Charlie Moore though.

I'd love to see that episode with them wading! All you ever see are guys in boats (to each his own) or fly fishing in streams (again, to each his own).
I'm going to watch for this next Sun night!
Thanks,
Rob

Does anyone remember a show that was on a number of years ago calles "fishing th Northeast"? If my memory serves me right, it was hosted by Mike Alperin. His catch phrase was "Let us catch the big one for you!" This guy LOVED saltwater fishing, and his favorite species were stripers, blues, salmon and tuna. This guy did a show flyfishing for salmon in Alaska. The fish were so thick you could almost walk on them. He then went fishing for monster halibut (100+ lbs). He was funny without having to rely on dry jokes and repeating himself over and over.
The "mad fisherman" is O.K., but I'd prefer more saltwater trips and less "smallies".
