Pre-Season Woahs...

There comes a certain time of the year when dedicated anglers begin thinking and planning for trips in the up comming season,it may be March, April or even May. For me it is Jan. 1st. I look at the first of the year as the beginning of the next season. Thats when I start to go over in my head the condition of the gear for the upcomming season. It is now the begining of March in New England, and with the recent warm weather it has been very difficult to drive by any waterways that I know, in the spring and summer will hold the ever elusive Striped-Bass. So, just as I am getting to the point where I absolutely have to hit the surf with my new rod, which I am bulding myself for the first time, wether there are fish or not, it happens. IT SNOWS!!! Now, I am one of those New Englanders who likes the snow and the cold but not when it interferes with my fishing time. What is there to do about this.... Absolutely nothing. Sooner or later Mother Nature will loosen it's winter grip on this part of this great land of ours and some unknow force, possibly one greater than that of Mother Nature, will send the Striped Bass and other migratory fish up to my back yard, or relatively close to it. All that is left for one to do in this situation is watch the snow melt and hope that it does so sooner rather than later. I have waited long enough I guess a couple more weeks won't hurt too much.... Or will it?
Good luck to all in the upcoming season...

Hope everyone catches that one fish that will meet their goals for this season...

Good luck...

<b><i><font size="2"><font color="663333">It's here. Knocking on the doors of spring! The birds are starting to return. The herring are marking their way into some of the warmer runs. It's here. Most people you see have a little more spring in their step. For the surf junkie, it's a tonic. I looked up into the sky tonight, full moon tomorrow. Next time the full moon comes around we'll be cathcing schoolies by day and waiting for the LARGE to arrive at night. That live herring twitching at the end of your line will become prey to the first bigger bass of the season. And so it begins again...

Thumbs up to a good '99 season, learned alot last year. Going to learn more still. I'm really itching to go now. Maybe after next weekends show - We'll get those first lines wet...

Yes, really itching....

Good luck Hunter
