Luds, that 'on(e) true Beachcomber' was called Nostalgia for years - and it used to totally rock back in the late 80's.

The one on the dune is the real deal.

MrH, my buddy has run the place for a good 12 years and says that Ween was the best show he's ever seen there - and there have been some incredible acts there over the summers.

I agree, awesome shows. It is by far my favorite hangout in the summer. I was just looking at the beachcam the other night dreaming of drinking dark and stormies and sitting on that outside deck.

I don't know why they don't stay open for september, I wonder if they're not allowed or something. I would definitely keep going there not as long as they were open.

I've asked him that before, it is just the end of the season, period. Summer's over and the crowd is gone, so the $ must not be there. Kinda hard to justify booking bands unless you know a crowd will be there - in the summer you could book a jug band and it would sell out.

Funny story - years back the guy that runs the place asked me to teach him how to surfcast. He would come up to coast guard in Truro and I taught him to flip eels at night. I kept telling him to just go down the hill in front of the Comber after work, but he wanted to fish at CG (I think it was a comfort zone - he had never caught anything anywhere else). Well, one night he went to the bottom of the hill and got cows until his arms hurt, and that was it for driving to CG.

All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing.

Mike I use to hang in the Quincy spot in the 70's it was the Beachcomber back then pre nostalgia. The Beams would play early Bowie covers. Poor brain cells never had a chance.

May fortune favor the foolish....
