opinon's needed
being a lot older than most of the guys on the site, need to know what you younger guys think of the doo-wop sound of the 50's.
as i start to get a little older i spend more and more time listeing to the re-mastered cd's. most of the blues and r+b sound have defined todays music, such as it is. thanks.

Those tunes are the foundation of the music we've been listening to for close to the last 50 years and all the biggest artists from the Beatles to the Stones to Zep and all the way to today would freely admit it.

Well, as a younger guy, I can say I always liked it...
They've actually been running a doo-wop concert on PBS the last couple of months - it's pretty good - had it on at work Saturday night

I'm often drawn to older music, mostly because the recording technology was afwul, what you heard is what you get. Old doo wop is real, real harmonies. Practice over and over to get it right. These guys were taking big band horn harmonies and doing it with their voices.
Today, there are machines, relatively inexpensive, where I can sing the main melody and the machine will generate the other voices in harmony. A few clicks of a mouse and you have the Temptations. I've seen them in action.

Ain't nothing like fishing RP and listening to WOMR when they play the oldies. It's like a time machine, same as it ever was....
