OTW TV Needs Some New Ideas!

Seen the boat fishing for stripers.....seen the tuna fishing and the shark fishing....seen the ice fishing......how about trying something different?! They did the surfcasting from Cuttyhunk episode but how about doing more surfcasting episodes say from the edges of the canal or the sandy hallowed shoreline of Cape Cod or the beautiful rocky coastline of Rhode Island?? How about an episode fishing from a kayak???! How about an episode on the Marthas Vineyard Derby?? How about an episode on fishing wooden plugs??! Dare I suggest an episode on building plugs?? How about some more episodes on fresh water fishing....say for muskie??? Maybe an episode on Steelhead fishing Polaski?? What would you folks like to see OTW do a show on?? I like the show but would like to see some different things....tired of the same old same old!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

They're coming. Once they start airing the new episodes you'll see some great action along the cc canal from last year and some plug building......

I'll get out the 3 d glasses.
Show is lame IMO. Same stuff over and over again. Seems like every time I decide to watch it I have seen it already.

OTW is going to make fishing the canal a living hell this year, especially in the spring when the canal supposedly had "the best week of fishing in 20 years" according to the article. Bleh...

We'll see. Takes alot more than one article. Also 7 miles both sides so there's plenty of room.....

Don't worry if it turns out to be a normal year this year than the next year will be fine. People like instant gratification and when they don't get it they give up and look elsewhere and we can go back to normality.

7 miles for those with a bike. I can see it now... first trip to the canal, can't even find a spot. Next morning, off to the junkyard to find a bike to outfit for the canal.

Some people have told me they're still waiting for Race Point to go back to normality.

All great ideas Larruy. Although i do see the problem with a surfcasting show as it does burn spots.

I would love to be entertained by a surfcasting-topic show, but not at the expense of even more people crowing spots with styrofoam coolers and coleman lanterns... Boating is no problem, but a shoreline can get cramped really quickly and get your access shutdown FAST... fishing TV shows are like commercials, that ultimately convince many people to go try something out... careful what you wish for...

I would love to see OTW skishing off Montauk with Melynck, Salmon River Steelheading or Salmon run, West branch Ausable River dry fly fishing in summer. Mix it up a little.

I wish they would leave the C.C. canal out! Having the herring run fishing show up on television brought tons of rude littering yahoos that finally ruined the herring run fishing for me. If they must show people how and where to fish why don't they spend sometime telling people to be respectful of others and take any trash they bring back with them. Some of us have spent decades fishing the canal and have seen just how bad it can get when it is featured on the television. Leave the canal out and let thoose who go learn or be shown by others and perhaps they to will respect the place and thoose that are their first. I will gladly fish shoulder to shoulder with others who have learned to fish a crowd and I usually leave there with more trash than I came with.

They should divide the show into segments. Fishing surf, boat, kayak ,fresh whatever for different speciec, then a "work bench" segment, then a "cook your catch" segment. Mix it up a little, something for everyone. Just me thinking...

The show stinks now. I would keep the show to ONE topic. If they break it up into 3 topics each topic can only be like 5 mins long. I would also increase the show to 1 hour. The topic I would like to see would be one about the MSBA and RISSA fishing shows, plug building, and WAY more surfcasting....I think they only had two episodes about surfcasting

I did a surf fishing show with them 3 years ago and it worked out real well. Since then, I 've only seen one( shark fishing- which was interesting). I think boat shows are just alot easier to film but I see no reason why they don't do surf stuff more often.

don't forget how hard it used to be to get in at Keene St. when chunking was the rage and the live Pogie fishing at the jungle when you couldn't find a parking spot for a 1/4 mile each way on the road. Roy's army, LOL. 1 blitz last year and everyone thinks it will be like that every year on the same tides. If it don't pan out this year I am sure it will be back to normal.
