Mumford and Sons.
Very glad they won best album at the Grammys. When they where playing I Will Wait they showed Jay Z and he did not look into it.
Good

Pretty much sound like every other band now being played on the pop alternative stations like WBRU. Nothing wrong with it, they're music is pretty catchy but definitely not groundbreaking. Nor do I think you'll be hearing them on the radio in a couple years.

What is ground breaking is that i believe most of the 1.7 million buyers of their Album Babel do not listen to pop alternative stations like WBRU.
They are getting crossover appeal to people who never listened to a banjo. High School kids like my son and daughter are big fans.
So that's good as far as I am concerned.

I never said they weren't good. I like them just fine. And if you listen to WBRU (it's on in my office all day since I took the Ipod home), you'll hear them several times a day, every day. They also play them on Sirius radio on the alternative and pop stations all the time. It reminds me of when Ben Folds Five got popular for a while, or the Squirrel Nut Zippers. They play catchy tunes with good lyrics and are just different enough to be considered alternative as opposed to straight up pop.

they're getting lots of play on country stations too.
Personally, I change the station when they come on, they're not appealing to me but I think they're pretty talented and better than most of the pop crap on the radio today.

Definitely talented, but all of the songs I've heard sound exactly the same. Maybe the full album has a wider variety.
Good point on getting the brainwashed pop masses into music that takes skill, rather than autotuning!

I categorize them with Jack Johnson. All songs sound the same. That being said, I like them and jack Johnson.. But I don't see both bands evolving much.

I'm more drawn to this music by the lyrics than the sound, very spiritual. Takes some getting used to listening that banjo.
