Does the Goo Goo say Cobble Hill Corp on the back of the package?
If it is like the ones I have with the sticker naming the lure on the front then I think it will. That series of plugs was made by a couple of guys from Darien Ct in 1987-? I don't know when they quit.
That was the last bunch of guys I knew of making the whole series of Goo Goos. There was one more before them who I believe took over from Leo Cooper. Cobble hill had a bunch of blanks and supplies to start with. I actually talked to them and asked if they were going to be making the 4" swimmer. A real killer bait. They looked around their stuff and found the supplies for it, and made them. Someone is making some swimmers now, but nothing like the whole line.
They were just like the originals, but the paint job was not that great. I have several of them where the paint came off in sheets not sticking to the primer. I attached a pic of some with some battle scars. Plug 4 and 7 in the row are missing a bunch of paint. those were from Cobble Hill Corp (plugs 9 and 10 are too). Plug 2,5,6 and 8 are Morell lures goo goos (early 80s) and the last plug in the row is a Leo Cooper.
Those cobble hill plugs are "rare-ish" because not too many were made. You don't see a whole lot of them. I was able to scarf a few dozen of them for safe keeping. My family had a wholesale fishing business on the south shore. We may have been one of the only ones around dealing with cobble hill corp. If that plug came from around here, I may have had that lure in my hands at one point back then if it came through us....
The eyes are another giveaway that it was from the 80s. It looks like those are veined. That was the type used on the real later ones.
This all assumes I am right that it is a cobble hill corp lure. Let us know if it has something different on the package. That would be interesting and would be another piece of goo goo history.
I am about 100% sure that is from the late 80s though.
Love to see some other pics of what was in the bag.
Here is a link to the pic mentioned above. I had already uploaded it in another thread so I couldn't attach it here.
