Saw John was looking at the Petzel LED in another thread, just recently picked up a Princeton Tec Aurora LED headlamp myself. I found this had better specs than the Petzel Tikka -- 3 Light level settings (plus strobe), lens angles on a hinge so you can direct it down in front, and waterproof. Was about the same cost at the places I looked..
I've traditionally used a AA flashlight taped to a cord necklace, but the 160 hours per set of batteries and light weight are nice
I've thought these were a little too bright sometimes, although I don't think people realize they shine in your eyes when they look directly at you. Plus, when three guys get them on at the same time on the rocks, its like a regular disco

I'm hoping the low setting isn't as bright as I've seen, and may try masking tape over the lens, or part of it, to dim some. Really gonna be handy in the boat too
