Check out Extreme Angling - "Hooked" tonight at 9:00
You might enjoy the latest episode of "Hooked" on the National Geographic channel at 9:00 PM tonight-- it deals with extreme angling and you just might see someone you recognize on the show...at the very least a few stripers.

was pretty cool, But I thought it was going to be more of a "this is what skishing for striped bass is and involves" type of thing swith actual footage of suiting up, casting, drifting in currents, etc... This was more of a re-enactment of a particular outing... still pretty cool, but much different than I expected...

The kite fishing was cool, and so was Melnyk. The guy from La Jolla was a tard. I would have cut the line fast 5 miles out on a sufrboard

150-200 yards out of braid off the conventional and my arms are bout spent so 14 miles would be fun....

Agree that the whole re-enactment thing was almost funny. Guy is a far better fisherman than he is an actor. The dead fish he was "wrestling" with was about a third of the size of the 48 incher the pics showed him with after the "scene". Too bad a show like that can't have more actually filmed action. Best thing was the underwater shots of bass- Thanx Mike!

the show is sometimes entertaining. interesting stories anyway.
it definately looks like the production guys have no knowlege or interest in fishing, which is kind of strange. their reenactments are always cheesey and inconsistant. you'd think they'd put alittle more into them. I saw one where the guy was fighting a giant catfish (or should i say "whopper") and they kept showing him with different reels during the fight (spinning, conventional, different brands, mono, braid, etc.). last night, the guy flyfishing for GTs, was wearing sandles at the beginning, barefeet while swimming, and flats booties while wading and landing the fish. stuff like that bugs me.

LOL my son and I got a chuckle out of that too. Guy needs his head examined for sure.

Another one I picked out too! I laughed when I seen the guy standing on the rock in sandals. Makes the show kinda corny when you see staged stuff like that.

I think they also gear this show to non-fishers. Stuff we're more likely to see and pick apart is not what they are concerned with.
Nice footage Mike

On the GT one, I was laughing when they show him release the black dead GT and he pushes it away and it just shoots to the right and sinks. Or how they go on about the barbless hooks and how it has to be kept tight and he jumps off the rock waving the rod all over. Pretty sure there was no line on the reel either.

I agree that the reinactments are lame, but the stories are cool. I would also like to see more about the techniques.

It was cool to have something we can relate to, but man they make that show over dramatic and cheesy...but still cool.
