In 1879, 435 striped bass fingerlings survivied a train trip across the United States from their natal East Coast.
By 1900, the commercial catch of striped bass on the West Coast topped 1,250,000 pounds.
"The largest striped bass ever recorded was caught in Edenton, North Carolina in 1891, weighed an amazing 125 pounds (without the head) and is estimated to have been 6 feet long.
I have allways wanted to learn more about West Coast striper fishing especially in the surf.Does anyone know any websites I could check out? Thanks- Joe
