That site had been declining for sometime now . A couple months ago the tackle store closed up shop. I guess Bob just stopped paying the monthly website fee or something like that. It's too bad too , I went there alot in the past and I like to think it helped my fishing.

As far as a Ask Frank here , well there is an Ask #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& forum here. It's the year 2000 now and while Frank has alot to offer , alot of it is dated. I've read his books seen his lectures and I share his enthusiasm of striped bass fishing.

I for one will miss Stripersurf.com but times change so do people.

stripersurf.com is not responding on the web now but Bob also may have just changed hosting compaines. I did a "whois" lookup and it showed the record info changed today. That could mean anything from someone else having it to just simply changing hosting services. As far as an "Ask Frank"? I don't really think so. First of all, I don't think he would be very cheap :P and while being very colorful at times, he has been nasty at others...

Besides, I would pit #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& against him back in the days when there were more big fish, leveling the playing field so to speak

Now, an "Ask Tim Coleman" forum in adition to "Ask #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&" would be the chalupas :P

Sounds like Bob D'Amico sold the domain name to someone, and they may try to resurrect the website, with a new host. I think Bob lost any interest in running the site, and basically let it wind down. If I remember correctly, he went to the UBB people in November of 1998, and probably paid that bill on a yearly basis. He didn't make the renewal. Bob wasn't the only person who had a financial interest in the site, and I would guess that his other backer(s) decided not to flush any more cash down with a sinking ship.

And I agree with John on FD. IMO he sounded like he was just mailing it in over there, and the way he treated anyone with the audacity to disagree with him was despicable. Frank has always had a crude side to him. Calling Saltheart on "old scow" was just one example, he also had differences with Carl Johanssen (Angler#1 on some other boards) who is one of the finest gentlemen I've ever met. And as far as fishing knowledge, I'll match #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& against him any day of the week. Bill has had an original idea or two in the last 20 years, and it hasn't been ten years since HIS last 40.

The site is back up today. I see Bob's name is still there. Front page is a little different. Just thought I'd let you know.
