The movie "Chatham"

I have been keeping my eyes peeled for this movie release ever since I caught some of the filming for it. I have heard hide nor hair of it since it was suppose to be released something like a year ago. I recently heard it will have a limited release in April (whatever that means)

I know they had some sneak peaks over in the Chatham area already, have any of you seen it? Is it any good?

Oh...they changed the name from "Chatham" to :"The Golden Boys" (I prefer the first name it was given)

Here is the trailer:

I think after a few sneak peeks it went straight to video. I'll ask my daugther since some of it was filmed at hers friends house just a few doors down from Chatham Light.

Well, I see that the movie is on DVD now. (The Golden Boys) I picked up a used copy off amazon for 3 bucks + shipping and watched it with the wife the other night.

It was OK. The actors were good and I really like the nautical dialog...How are you?..."awe we are hove-to here trying to determine our bearings"... as they hide in the shanty. The story seemed a little hokey and choppy to me. After the movie was over I picked up my nautical terms book and looked up a few phrases.

I think they put it out as a sort of an epitaph for David Carradine who was one of the main characters and recently died. Under special features they had a very long winded interview with him along with other clips (it was almost as long as the movie itself) and there was an "in memory" mention at the end.

My wife liked it but was not crazy about it. I think if you are interested in the cape and a cute/funny story about 3 old captains living together with a good looking women you might like it. I would rec it to be seen with your significant other .

I remember a few years back they came here for 2 days to recurite a few background characters for the movie. Ever since then I have been keeping my eyes open. Well, case closed.

Mr Sandman,

Thanks for the update, I was interested in seeing this one when I heard about the filming.
It might mention it somewhere in the movie, I believe the film was supposed to follow of one of Joseph Lincoln's books, "Cap'n Eri". I read a number of his books and thought it was one of his best along with "Rugged Water" which was a depiction of life at the Nauset lifesaving station. . What I remember most is that no author ever sent a boat into the surf like Lincoln. He could keep you turning the pages and most of the lifesaving stories he told were his depictions of actual rescues.

Funny you mention the dialog, Lincoln was a master at the old Cape dialect. It takes a while to get used to it when you read him.
