I must be fffing crazy!!

I don't know what the hell I was thinking about, but I actually agreed to go cod fishing off shore in a few weeks. My friends buddy has a 50 foot offshore lobster boat and we are going to take her out to go fishing for cod, I guess off of Cox's. I keep thinking of crashing waves and a winter storm. Of course it could be flat calm...who knows. I do know that I wouldn't last 10 minutes out there if she sank. I was going to ask the skipper if he has survival suits on board. I guess I am a pansy. This is one of those trips I could see myself backing out at the dock. Again what the hell was I thinking about? yikes

So how will you feel when your buddy calls you and tells you how good they did ?
On the other hand, Cod jerking is work, if it's good you can't uncurl your fingers for a day or two.

Think of it as kismet.

May fortune favor the foolish....

Duke

I can tell you this if he has a 50 foot lobster boat and commercially fishes I can guarentee he has survival suits and e-pirb and boattracks or skymate... the government and theifs woops I mean NMFS has every commercial boat LO-Jacked on gps they kno wwere we are at all times... And if its a a good lobster boat its prob a novi style hull but either way itll have a wide beam so its stable in the rougher stuff.. If its that bad the Captain will know and not go... NOAA does the weather daily lol.. I can only say this if you dont go you will regret it if you do go you could get beat up a lil but you wont think bout it when on theh fish...

Good luck out there Duke! Take the camera with you. I know I wouldn't be able to handle an off shore trip like that unless I was seriously medicated. Oy yea and in my mind you are EFFFING CRAZY!

The fishing on Coxes has been very good now for awhile, on the good days a limit of cod can be had within a couple of hours. Some of the headboats are coming in early once the limit is hit. This time of year it's all about the weather.

Tight Lines!!!!

There's nothing I like more than fishing broom stick rods and 24 oz cod jigs in 300+ feet of water in a ripping current and snagging dogfish in 20 degree weather. Fun stuff!

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.
