I`m a fan, but like the song says Love em or hate em !
The guy was a great fisherman. The show was kinda a spuff, but it seam while plenty like him, alota fisherman didn`t like him [J ?],.but he had just resign befor he got crippled for five more years. I felt he be back. If you can understand him you knew it ! He is real! Full of life, good spirt and honest.. Yeah loud, crazy, and sometime silly "so what"! isn`t that character [plenty of guy could use some] He had raised millions for kids. It`s one of the shows my wife didn`t mind whiching. There where no bait, drives, no 1,000 feet shots and yea he took some [shots] i wouldn`t take "so what".
But to see em back in 8 months in a chair ! shoot trap, handguns, riding in a chopper and fishing big game WOW! Anothin exciteing thing is to see his wife [Annie] stick by his side she got some job now. Glad to see her fishing traveling w him Oh yeah she can shoot!
Friday night
I typically turn the TV on, pizza night, while Ry get ready for hockey pratice it`s Tred, Travor M and off to hockey that starts the wkend but last night when I tune and look and sore em on the porch fishing [Being Tred silly] I was wow a new show!, than the next thing he`s getting in a boat I was blown away Good for him!

I read a recent, last page type article he wrote stating that flyrodding a salmon out of its fast moving and treacherous waters is his definition of the most difficult and challenging....And, second, he mentioned surf casting striped bass. I slightly disagree; the night game and equally or more treacherous geography of the coastline, tides and winds, cannot be rated equivalent to a salmon river.

Barta also said that he loves blue water fishing the best, but, how hard is it to sit around on a big boat in relative comfort, for hours on end, while awaiting the challenge of pulling off a smoothly executed "bait and switch" for a billfish hookup? Barta, IMO, is a sage in this realm of our sport fishing avocation.

I'm glad to see that he still has the drive and desire to "do things the Barta way". How many of us would be so inclined if we had faced a similar situation?
I don't know how I would handle it, but I admire his spunk!

A lot can be viewed as difficult besides what some consider to be physically demanding. Striped bass are really not hard to catch once you have located them.Once they are on the line the odds are in your favor to land them. The same can not be said for other more formidable species.Be it on land or boat a well executed plan that results in an opportunity to get a tight line is very satisfying for some.In my opinion there can be much more work to fish bluewater if that is your choice.Sometimes it is more productive to fish smarter rather than harder.To each his own,no need to rank difficulty.
