When and where will you start poking around?
Not looking for specifics like pole 13, the second rip, or spike rock, but more general. For instance I'll start the first week of April in the Norwich area.

West end of canal around May 15. Don't tell anyone though, this info is top secret.
Freshwater bass should be starting any time and will peak around late april/early may, which will keep me busy until the big migrant stripers start to filter in.

Rod in the car second week of April. Serious effort at my favorite spots as soon as I see squid boats working off Cotuit...

Schoolie rod gets thrown in the back 3rd week of Apr.
I keep it real simple:My 7' schoolie rod, some soft plastics,a few small tins and jigs.If I think I'm going to get a little wet I throw in my knee boots.
I fish the all the usual early season areas in my locale and one that I have never seen anyone but me at.

Was out throwing plugs at the west end of the canal yesterday...
Not exactly looking for fish, but it was nice out, and some dannies needed tuning, so I figured it was as good a time as any
Might go try for some holdovers in the next few weeks, and I'll start schoolie fishing once the squid show up. Cherry blossoms, normally.
