FEMA site for Mass & RI residents

FEMA: Massachusetts%$Severe Storm and Flooding

FEMA: RI
Hope this helps some who need it. If you have damage, I suggest you call asap as they will be inundated by tomorrow, if they aren't already. And be sure to make your insurance agent get involved, even if you don't have flood insurance. If the agent just says, Sorry, you don't have flood insurance,....it is time to get a new agent.

Added RI site: JohnR

This is awful for a LOT of people, and I hope all recover as best as possible..

all I dread is next years insurance premiums...Homeowners, with or without a flood insurance rider.. is gonna go thru the roof.

I know of two folks that have flooded basements..and are not going to make a claim...everytime they have in the past.. rate rape... or all of a sudden they have to try and find a new provider....or settle for the MA insurance pool...

Insurance companies..

Ya Karl, I understand that point and that is why I did not put a claim in a year ago when a water filter went bad in the middle of the night and flooded my basement, I just figured they'd raise my rates. Well you know what? they did raise them anyway even though i didn't put in any claim or even inquire about it. I told my agent I found ins. cheaper and he scrambled to find one somewhat competitive. We pay for it, why can't we use it

Just came back from Allstate - In RI, unless you have a flood rider on your policy, you're on your own.

First off, I don't know all the technicalities, and I just saw my policy earlier this month with the No Flood disclaimer clearly on the bottom, but.... if I had suffered a major loss, I would be damn sure my agent would be seeking some little known loophole or provision of my policy to help offset at least a small amount... or he'd be history. As for the FEMA, if your area has been declared a disaster area, I believe you qualify for some federal relief.... Could be wrong, but the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

FEMA trailer at the Lowes Warwick at RT5 and 113 today.

Couple of my neighbors have applied for assistance, debating but I'm not sure I'm bad enough to warrant it - or want it. I need to quantify whether we need it or not.

You guys remember my parents had a fire, well it took longer to get a new kitchen than it did for my neighbors who had their whole house burn down to get a new house built. On top of it, the insurance company told my parents they needed a railing on their deck, which is exactly one step off the ground, and they inspected the deck when my parent first bought the housed 10 years ago, and never said boo. They were told to put on the railings or face cancellation, friggen thiefs in the night....

Fema assistance probably is for everyone regardless of policy. Might as well take advantage of it.
